Robert (Bob) Carpenter OAM was an amazing and inspirational gentleman who has had long lasting effects on thousands of people, of all ages, during his life.
In recognition of his incredible contributions to other peoples’ lives, the One Giant Leap Australia Foundation Student Ambassadors are establishing The Wings of The Baron Award to support the ongoing development and participation of young people into the future.
The Wings of the Baron Award is in reference to his ‘Ugly Stik’ aircraft with which he taught so many. Bob’s aircraft was designed in the livery of the historic figure, The Red Baron. The Award is representative of his life in aviation and also a metaphor for raising individuals to a higher level, with Bob’s guiding hand.
